Brookhaven Announces Dallas College Legacy Award Finalists
Dallas College Brookhaven announced its finalists for the Dallas College Athletics Legacy Award.
Each recipient will earn a chance to be inducted into Dallas College Athletics Lifetime Legacy Lore. The Legacy Award honors former Dallas College student-athletes and coaches who distinguished themselves through exceptional athletic and academic performances at their respective campuses, and who have continued to excel in their professional and personal lives long after their playing days. These individuals represent the highest standards of leadership, excellence and impact – both within Dallas College and in the communities they serve.
Jason Hopkins
Jason Hopkins is a four-time National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national champion and five-time national runner-up as the Dallas College Brookhaven head volleyball coach. Following his 22nd season with the Bears in 2025, he had an overall record of 443-343, and 172-27 in the Dallas Athletic Conference and Metro Athletic Conference.
Hopkins, the winningest coach in Brookhaven volleyball history, has been selected the NJCAA Division III National Coach of the Year four times and the NJCAA Region V Coach of the Year 11 times. Hopkins holds the most NJCAA national volleyball titles (four) of any active NJCAA volleyball coach in the country.
Jimmy Elder
Former Brookhaven women's soccer head coach Jimmy Elder led the Bears to five national championships, including three in a row.
Elder took over the program in 2015, and won his first National Junior College Athletic Association Division III title in 2017. Two years later, his team was on the top of the mountain again when they won it all. Brookhaven three-peated as champs in 2021, 2022 and 2023 – the latter Elder's final year with the program.
Elder played professionally for the Oklahoma City Slickers, the Dallas Americans and the Houston Dynamo.
