Bears Roll to Big Win Over TCS Post Grad

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's baseball team beat The Complete Showcase Post Grad, 14-2, Monday.

The win was the Bears' second at home this season.

Brookhaven scored twice in the bottom of the second inning to take a 3-2 lead. Following a pair of scoreless innings, the Bears' bats busted out for three runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and four more in the seventh for the runaway victory.

The Bears outhit TCS Post Grad, 12-5.

Right fielder Jacob Vela homered, doubled and drove in five runs. Center fielder Balin Valentine had three hits, and drove in a run for Brookhaven. Left fielder Deven Kirtley doubled, tripled, and had three RBI. Catcher Ray Jaramillo was 2-for-3 with a double. Designated hitter Tucker Simpson, third baseman Gabriel Garza and second baseman Joseph Jaco each doubled. Garza also had an RBI and a walk. First baseman Peyton Starr drove in a run.

Brookhaven starter Dawson Orsak went four innings, allowing three hits, two runs and a walk, and struck out four to earn his first win of the season. Middle reliever Hunter Beltran worked two innings, giving up two hits and a walk without surrendering a run. He had one strikeout. Trevor Rangel worked the final inning, allowing just a walk, while striking out one to seal it.

The Bears continue Dallas Athletic Conference play Friday and Saturday at Mountain View. Both games begin at noon.
