Bears Win Season Opener, 10-1

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's baseball team won its season opener Friday, beating Dallas-Fort Worth Post Grad, 10-1.

The Bears broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then scored in each of their next three at-bats to put the game away. Brookhaven put five runs on the board in the sixth inning to take a seven-run lead.

Left fielder Landon Kerkmaz went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in and a stolen base. Designated hitter Bo Dinscore also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Third baseman Joshua Schroeder had a hit, and drove in two runs. Catcher Dalton Stanley drove in a pair of runs, and walked once. Center fielder Mason Gilliam was 1-for-2 with a walk.

The Bears outhit DFW Post Grad, 7-3.

Brett Rawlinson got the win, working three innings of relief, while allowing two hits, a run and no walks. He struck out two batters. Starter Nathan Jacobson went three innings, allowing one hit, no runs and two walks, while fanning three. Grant Colson pitched one inning of scoreless relief, striking out two of the three hitters he faced.

Brookhaven wraps up the series with a twin bill against DFW Post Grad Monday.
