Kerkmaz Picked as DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's Landon Kerkmaz was selected as the Dallas Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

A sophomore outfielder from Frisco, Texas, Kerkmaz batted .666, going 8-for-12 with four doubles, six runs batted in, seven runs scored and two stolen bases as the Bears swept a three-game series from Dallas College Cedar Valley to take over sole possession of third place in the league entering the final week of the regular season. He had multiple hits in each of the three wins, doubled in each game, including twice in the 18-3 seven-inning shortened series finale, and drove in at least one run all of the wins. He matched a season-best four RBI in the series sweep-clinching victory.

Kerkmaz is batting .336 with three home runs, 13 doubles, four triples, 38 RBI and 16 stolen bases this season.

Brookhaven (23-25, 14-13 DAC) will begin a three-game series at Dallas College Mountain View (13-31, 3-24) noon Wednesday. The Bears host the Lions Friday and Saturday in the final two regular season games. If Brookhaven holds on to third place in the conference, it will have the option of hosting the first two games of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament next Wednesday.
