No. 15 Brookhaven Completes Sweep
Dallas College Brookhaven beat Dallas College Mountain View 15-6 Saturday to complete a three-game sweep.
The Bears, ranked 15th in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, won their fourth straight to improve to 28-21 overall, 16-8 in the Dallas Athletic Conference. Brookhaven sits one game behind second place Dallas College Richland (28-20, 17-7) in the DAC standings with two series remaining.
Philip Orr, Payton Stephenson and Bradley Boedeker all homered for the Bears Saturday. Orr went 3 for 5 with a double, walk and an RBI. Stephenson was 1 for 4 with four RBI. Boedeker was 1 for 1 with a walk and two RBI.
The Bears had 11 hits.
Brookhaven broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning, scoring five runs before tacking on six more in the eighth to put the game away.
Abraham Fortis was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI. Cyler Moore went 2 for 3 with a double, three walks and an RBI.
Nathan Jacobson (6-1) pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief in the win, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks. He struck out three. Christian Jaquay pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced.
The Bears play at Angelina College 3 p.m. Monday in a rescheduled game. They begin a three-game series with Dallas College Cedar Valley at home noon Wednesday.
