Nurenberg, Lino Earn Special Awards on All-DAC Teams

Dallas College Brookhaven's Jackson Lino was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year, while Ryan Nurenberg was voted the Sixth Man of the Year.

Nurenberg was a First Team All-DAC choice, Curtis Trey Moffett earned Second Team honors, and Aaron Ovalle and Lino were Honorable Mention picks.

A sophomore guard from Corpus Christi, Texas, Nurenberg averaged 14.6 points, 4.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game, while coming off the bench in 18 of the 25 games he appeared in. He shot 54.5 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 83.1 percent from the free throw line. Nurenberg scored in double figures in 21 games, including a run of eight in a row. He had a career-high 31 points at the University of Arkansas Cossatot Dec. 3, and scored over 20 points four times. He had 10 assists in two games.

Lino, a freshman forward from Arlington, Texas, averaged 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks, while shooting 56.2 percent. He scored in double figures in 20 games, doing so seven consecutive times in November. Lino had a season-high 25 points in a win at Dallas College Mountain View Feb. 8. He scored 20 or more points in five games, including three in a row. He had a season-high 13 rebounds in a double overtime game versus No. 2 Dallas College North Lake, and grabbed 10 or more boards in six games. He had a season-high five blocks against Loyalty College Prep Nov. 15, and recorded three or more rejections in six games. Lino had a season-high four steals at Paris Junior College Nov. 22.  

A freshman guard from Fort Worth, Texas, Moffett led the Bears in scoring at 16 points per game, while grabbing five rebounds, dishing out 3.4 assists and coming up with 1.3 steals. He shot 50.4 percent from the floor and 72.9 percent from the free throw line. Moffett reached double figures in 22 games, including 16 in a row. He had a season-high 29 points in the double overtime game with North Lake, and had 20 or more in 10 games.

A freshman guard from Amarillo, Texas, Ovalle averaged 14.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals. He had a 43.6 percent field goal and 90.6 percent free throw percentage. Ovalle scored in double figures in 19 games, including 13 in a row. He had a season-high 37 points at National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Grayson College, and scored 20 or more in five games.
