Farias, Perez Named DAC Players of Week
Dallas College Brookhaven's Stephanie Farias and Megan Perez have been named the Dallas Athletic Conference women's soccer Players of the Week. Farias was chosen as the league's offensive player, while Perez earned the defensive award.
Farias, a freshman from McKinney, Texas, had the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw with National Junior College Athletic Association No. 9 Dallas College Richland in the league opener Friday. Three of her five shots were on target as No. 1 Brookhaven (2-0-1, 0-0-1 DAC) put 24 shots on goal, forcing Richland goalkeeper Ilce Miranda to make an eye-popping 23 saves in the double overtime tilt.
Perez, a freshman defender from Frisco, Texas, helped limit the Thunderducks to four shots in the 110-minute game. Perez neutralized Richland's attack to keep the game one-sided in the attacks and shots on goal.
Brookhaven will play at Dallas College North Lake 4 p.m. Tuesday.
