MARCY, N.Y. – Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team beat Mohawk Valley Community College 3-0 Wednesday in the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division III quarterfinals.
The win sends the Bears (15-1-2) on to the semifinals Friday to meet Genesee Community College (13-2-2).
Brookhaven grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first half. Justine Garnica scored less than five minutes into the game to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Natalia Banda had the assist. In the 14th minute, Ariana Chavira gave Brookhaven a two-goal lead when she scored on an assist from Ava Little.
Kate Carlson gave the Bears a 3-0 lead when she scored her second goal of the season in the 76th minute.
The Bears had six shots in each half. They outshot the Hawks 12-7. Brookhaven had eight shots on goal.
Brookhaven goalkeeper Miranda Estrada made four saves. It was her ninth solo shutout of the season and the Bears' 12th overall.
Mohawk Valley keeper Mackenzi Stevens had five saves.
